Nom Nom Nom Nom (Peachie O's not pictured, they were eaten)
Well, so far today I've been pretty lazy. Really haven't felt like waking up and getting out of bed so making it to work, my hours at the museum, and the grocery store were about it for what I'm going to accomplish. I really should go on a run this evening though. Need a slow technique run today to figure out what's up with those blisters I got last week. Plus I don't want to strain myself too much before my 5k this week.
YA! My first 5k this week! Wednesday, the 4th of July, there is a 5k fun run I'm all registered for here in Utah. I heard about it about 3 weeks ago and decided I wouldn't be all trained up in time so I didn't register. But then I was thinking... right after this race I'm leaving to Taiwan for 2 weeks of awesomeness, then 4 days after I get back I have surgery, then 2 weeks after surgery I go on family vacation! I probably won't be able to do much training or race running for the rest of the summer! So I decided to sieze the day and registered for the 5k. What does that mean? It means I will most likely run a little less than half the race (seeing as I can currently go about 1.5 mi without walking.) My goal is to finish in around 35 min (my practice 5K last week was just over 36 min. but I'm hoping to be faster since it's a race and all.)
Will I be running barefoot you ask? The answer is yahno... and by that I mean I will probably run in my Walmart aqua socks. I would love to do it barefoot, but 2 things worry me.
1) I have only run as far as 2 mi barefoot (part of that walking)
2) I don't know the terrain of the race route at all (I've been told it starts and ends on gravel-like roads though and I've only been training on sidewalks so far.)
So if the roads look good I might start off barefoot, but cart my aqua socks with me. If not I'll probably start in aqua socks and if I get sick of them I'll carry them the rest of the way.
On a completely different note, tonight is Girls Night!! This means I will be eating lots and lots of delicious bite sized food (tonight's theme is Tea Party) and then heading to the theater to see Brave. (I already saw Brave last week too, very good.) Promises to be a good night with the girl friends.
